According to Jewish Law, the seventh day of the week, Saturday, is ''Shabbat,'' or the Sabbath. It is a day of rest, when one puts aside work-week concerns. Shabbat begins Friday night at sundown, and ends Saturday night when it is dark enough to see three stars in the sky.

Candles are lit as Shabbat begins, and the family partakes of ''challah'' (braided bread) during Friday-night dinner and Saturday lunch. Both meals begin with ''Kiddush,'' the Shabbat prayers recited over grape wine. Gallery Judaica offers beautiful Shabbat candlesticks, challah plate, challah covers and Kiddush cups to beautify the Shabbat experience.

Shabbat concludes with the ''Havdalah'' service, which includes drinking grape wine, gazing at the flame of a Havdalah candle and smelling sweet spices. Explore our selection of contemporary Havdallah sets in painted wood, mixed metals and ceramic.
